Breaking News: Randy Johnson Actually Pitches Well...Yanks Still Lose

Wow, can you believe it? Randy Johnson didn't get pummeled by the Phillies! But that didn't stop the Yankees from losing its 8th of the last 11 games. However, I am beginning to spot a trend: When Johnson pitches like crap, the Yankees seem to find a way to save him and somehow win the game. And, when he pitches OK like last night, the Yankees find a way to lose.
Last night's game was very telling of how damaged the Yankees are right now without team cancer Gary Sheffield and potential hari-kari victim Hideki Matsui. Less than a month ago the jackass Yankee fans were singing the praises of Melky Cabrera with their "Got Melky?" shirts and chants of "Melky, Melky" echoing throughout Yankee Stadium after good hitting and a game-saving catch against Manny Ramirez. How is Melky doing now that other teams have figured out his hitting weaknesses, you ask? Well, last night he went 0-for-5 with 3 strikeouts. Melky has only 6 hits in his last 45 at-bats, with a batting average dropping rapidly to .244. I propose a new shirt: "Want Melky?"
It was nice to see new Yankees setup man, Kyle Farnsworth, when not allegedly impregnating random baseball groupies, give up an insurance run to the Phillies then seeing former Yankee setup man, Tom Gordon, come in to close the game for Philadelphia - including striking out Roid Boy Giambi to end the game.
Yankees fall to 2 games behind last night's victorious Red Sox and 5 1/2 back of the White Sox for the Wild Card. Life is sweet.
